Behind a 20-1 run to start the second half, Syracuse beat North Carolina 87-71 to win the 2K Sports Classic in Madison Square Garden.

Tournament MVP Wes Johnson scored 25 points and hit four 3-pointers to lead the Orange. Four of his teammates also reached double figures.

Aaron Shah noticed his 4-year-old son Ahmad had a fever and decided to take him to the emergency room. Ahmad had H1N1, and later that August night, doctors told Shah his son might not see the next morning.

“We are grateful to God that we live in Chapel Hill and that we live close by the hospital,” Shah said.

It all started when a Buddhist prayer bead rolled into a crack in the floor.

David Fernandez was sitting on his friend’s porch when the necklace he was handling broke.

Searching for a replacement, he went to The Original Ornament bead shop at Carr Mill Mall in August but found it closed.
